What do l need to complete my off-grid solar power system?

A solar panel has to be connected a charge controller to requlate current, and a battery to store the electricalpower. You will need adapter kit cables to wire the solar panel(s) and charge controller, and tray cablesconnecting the charge controller to a deep-cycle battery.

What does off-grid and on-grid mean?

On-grid simply means solar power equipment (array or solar panel) is connected to the electrical grid, while off.grid refers to systems that are not connected to the grid and therefore store the generated power for later useOff-grid systems are not affected by grid blackouts.

How should l connect solar panels in my electrical circuit (series vs parallel) ?

Solar panels can be connected in series or in parael to meet your electrical circuit size and power demand. Connecting solar panels inseries willhave the effect of adding up their operating voltage output, while system current output will be the same as that for one panel.While, connecting solar panels in parallel willhave a diferent effect;individual panels operating curent output will add up to be the systemoutput current, while system output voltage will be the same as the output voltage of one solar panel. These work amazing to download power from the sun would recommend you put two on your car get about 130w per panel

Working so far after many hard rains

Bought this for an electronic gate arm and was much cheaper than the brand name one from the gate manufacturer. So far it is still working after being installed outside for nearly two months of many hard rains and winds. I preemptively siliconed all around the face of the panel to help make it more water resistant. If it lasts even a year it will be worth the money spent on it.

Short summery: It works well; would buy again.

Longer version: First; the diode all the other reviewers are debating. No it doesn't have one and that's a good thing. While you certainly can, you really shouldn't be just connecting this to a battery. You should be using a purpose-selected charge controller of a minimal quality that it will almost certainly have it's own. If you're wondering, why not have both; The reason is that each diode drops your voltage by .6 volts. It doesn't sound like a lot but if you're using this in an area that doesn't get a lot of sun, it can make a difference.In my use, I had a seldom used car whose battery died a lot. I combined this with a DIY MPPT controller, purchased here on Amazon for about $13. Also, since the cigarette lighter port on my car only connected when the car was on, I connected to the battery via an “Add a circuit” fuse tap, also purchased here on Amazon for about $7. At first, it didn't work because I had placed it on my dashboard in a way that slanted slightly away from the sun. Once I tiled it as directly at the sun as I could, it worked perfectly.
